About The Position

The Mixer Truck Driver safely operates a specialized hauling vehicle designed to manufacture, deliver, and unload ready-mixed concrete and related materials to varying locations within Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. The mixer truck driver receives direction and work assignments from the designated dispatcher/plant manager. Deliveries are made to job sites (frequently off-highway) with difficult and congested delivery unloading points. Work hours vary daily according to customer demand for products and services. Night and weekend work assignments are often required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio-issued Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as required for the equipment being operated.
  • Knowledge of local roads, streets, and highways for efficient deliveries.
  • Understand the principles of quality concrete and concrete construction practices.
  • Uses personal protective and safety equipment as directed.
  • Maintains a violation-free motor vehicle driving record.
  • Operates a concrete mixer in varying job site conditions in a safe and productive manner.
  • Maintains professional relationships with customers, managers, and office personnel.
  • Is accountable for money collected for goods and services and immediately returns it to the Company.
  • Alerts the customer and Company to unsafe conditions on the job site.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge and experience in minor repair and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represents M&R Ready-Mix, Inc. and The Gerken Companies to a variety of customers in a safe and positive manner that will assist in achieving the goals of the Company.
  • Responds courteously and conscientiously while exceeding high customer expectations for quality and customer service.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in a clean and work-ready condition, including minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Reports for work as scheduled.
  • Becomes knowledgeable in the quality and safe application of the concrete products produced and delivered.
  • Complies with all OSHA and USDOT/FMCSA safe-operating practices.
  • Follows directions.
  • Works safely and efficiently.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned, including truck or plant maintenance, truck and mixer-drum cleaning, mowing and weed control at the plant site, etc.
  • Complies with all Company policies, including those restricting the use of hand-held mobile telephones.
  • Sets a high standard as a delivery professional that others will aspire to achieve.
