Job Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY: The paint mixer at Newaygo reports to the paint shift Team Coordinator directly and regularly receives direction from the Paint Engineer. This person is responsible to interpret the daily schedule and have the proper material prepared and ready for use in the appropriate system in order to ensure the proper supply of paint to the paint line.

Requirements

  • Must have experience mixing paint in a Tier One automotive environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret and prepare mix sheets.
  • Ability to pass a color acuity test.
  • Good knowledge of painting and paint systems.
  • Ability to use standard math.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to applicants with recent mixing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret the daily paint schedule and prepare material for use accordingly.
  • Prepare mix sheets and mix paint to specifications.
  • Check temperature and viscosity of paints.
  • Unload, flush and reload re circulating paint systems.
  • Maintain daily paint usage records.
  • Track raw material inventory levels and maintain the storage area in an organized manor.
  • Aid in maintaining and updating all control documents related to the mix kitchen.
  • General maintenance duties related to mix kitchen equipment including pumps, agitators, vats, drums, and spinner lids.
  • 5S and general housekeeping of mix kitchen and red tag room.
  • Maintain proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous and regulated wastes including waste paints and purge.
  • Disposes of waste paint solids to satellite accumulation area.
  • Occasionally transports hazardous waste from satellite accumulation to 90-day accumulation area.
  • Uses RF gun to keep track of paint inventory and maintain accuracy.
  • Receives paint suppliers, chemical suppliers, and Hazardous waste pickups
  • Use of Hi-lo to move empty drums to recycling location.
