About The Position

The Mixer Driver position at Carroll Concrete Co./Newport Sand & Gravel Co., Inc. involves the safe delivery of ready mixed concrete while adhering to company policies and procedures. The role requires the operation of a mixer both on and off-road, ensuring proper mixing and unloading of concrete, and maintaining accurate documentation of deliveries. Additionally, the driver is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of company vehicles, performing inspections, and general housekeeping duties at the plant or yard. Customer relations are also a key aspect of the job, requiring professional interaction with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent work experience
  • Dependable, team player with good communication skills and safety consciousness
  • Ability to deal professionally with customers, plant employees, dispatchers, mechanics, and other drivers
  • Basic reading, writing, and simple math skills
  • Knowledge of the local area, local contractors, and concrete construction practices
  • Excellent defensive driving skills
  • Mixer driving experience and/or several years off road driving experience
  • Valid CDL Class B Driver's License with a driving record within tolerable insurability limits

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Ready Mixed Concrete
  • Safe operation of mixer on and off road
  • Knowledge and ability to mix and unload concrete as outlined in the Training Manual
  • Responsible for documentation of materials delivered, accurate record of time, water added to concrete, funds collected, and ticketing procedures
  • Clean and maintain company vehicles including performing pre and post trip inspections
  • Prepare Daily Inspection Reports
  • Conduct weekly and general vehicle maintenance as per the Vehicle Maintenance Schedule
  • Proper cleaning and washout of vehicles
  • Maintenance of Plant/Yard General Housekeeping
  • Understand and observe company policies regarding customer relations
