About The Position

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division, Operations Support Branch, Acquisition Management Department in Chula Vista, CA. This position allows you to use your knowledge and experience to perform a variety of administrative, research, and analytical duties and special assignments related to the mission and functions of Mission Readiness Operations. As a Mission Support Specialist, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
  • You may be required to pass a background investigation.
  • CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.
  • Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process.
  • Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 01/07/2025.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree, two full years of graduate education, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level.

Responsibilities

  • Independently planning and carrying out all mission support responsibilities, establishing priorities and methods as necessary to accomplish tasks.
  • Researching, interpreting, modifying, and applying available guidelines for adaptation to specific issues.
  • Interpreting agency and sector policies, understanding of processes and their relationship and impact on other related processes, and involvement to ensure consistency and compliance throughout.
  • Assisting in managing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of program operations while analyzing and resolving problems regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of activities.
  • Performing mission and administrative support duties; respond to inquiries; obtain and provide information necessary to perform support duties; transmit guidance and instructions to headquarters and sector staff.
