Young LifeYuma, AZ

About The Position

Mission / AuthorityThrough both training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry. Job Specific Working Conditions: Yuma presents an exciting opportunity to grow the footprint of YL ministry in southwestern Arizona. This diverse community presents a unique opportunity to reach students in this town stradding the Arizona/California border. Several years ago there was thriving YL ministry in this community but since the AD moved out of state, we have not had ministry there. The area is in a rural part of the state and in need of a person with the ability to connect well with kids and adults, form a leadership team and adult committee and re-launch ministry. The Yuma staff person will be a part of a warm, welcoming, thriving Arizona New Mexico Region community with monthly staff meetings in Phoenix throughout the school year. Due to the geographic distance from Phoenix, the staff person would need to be a self-starter although support and training is readily available. Yuma is a great place to live! Home to the most sunshine of any US city, Yuma is a thriving agricultural town on the Colorado River. Just 60 miles from the Gulf of California, there is a variety of interesting things to do in and around Yuma. Home to the Marine Corps Training Ground, a 250 acre sand dune recreational area called the Algodones Dunes where Star Wars was filmed, Colorado River "beaches" and tubing, a hot air balloon festival, a rich Old West history including the 1875 Yuma Territorial Prison, authentic Mexican food, just two hours from Coachella and more!
