About The Position

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing defense autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations for the Department of Defense (DoD) through autonomous and intelligent platforms. Saronic is seeking a licensed Chief Engineer to assist the operation of our mid-sized autonomous surface vessel, Marauder. In this role you will be responsible for the operation of engine room and all associated machinery. You will ensure that all marine systems including but not limited to main propulsion system, auxiliary machinery, fuel oil system, lubrication, cooling system, and all associated environmental equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Have a strong grasp on vessel engineering systems with the ability to work independently on issues. A steadfast commitment to safety and adherence to maritime regulations is essential for ensuring the highest standards in vessel operations.

Requirements

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard MMC. Chief Engineer STCW 3,000 KW/4,000 HP or more (unlimited).
• STCW Basic Training, OICEW.
• Valid TWIC, USCG STCW Medical Certificate, and passport.
• Proficiency in maritime engineering systems.
• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a group.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Must pass background check and USCG/DOT drug testing.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering or similar field.
• Familiar with jet-drive marine engines.
• Experience with autonomous or unmanned systems is a plus.
• Experience with software engineering.
• Prior experience working with the DoD or other government agencies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete all necessary maintenance on vessel machinery.
• Oversee all operations in the engine room.
• Be on-call at all times while the vessel is underway to address any issues that arise during operations.
• Manage the inventory and ordering of spare parts.
• Participate in the creation of a planned maintenance schedule.
• Assist in the shipboard execution of mission objectives.
