Mission Integration Engineer

ZP GroupArvada, CO
69d$120,000 - $180,000

About The Position

We're hiring our first Mission Integration Engineer to help launch a new team focused on bridging the gap between customer needs, product strategy, and technical implementation. You'll work directly with our team lead to define how our products integrate into real-world missions, identify gaps, and drive solutions across engineering and product teams. This is a hands-on, strategic role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys poking holes in assumptions, and wants to help build something new from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (required).
  • Experience designing and implementing space systems across multiple missions.
  • Strong understanding of ground systems and how they interact with satellite operations.
  • Background in software development (you've coded before).
  • Comfortable in customer-facing roles, especially in early mission phases.
  • Not a traditional MBSE-style systems engineer-someone who can poke holes in the artifacts.
  • Familiarity with sequence diagrams, prototyping, and testing workflows.
  • Action-oriented, adaptable, and energized by fast-moving environments.
  • Preferably located in Colorado, but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mission integration, systems engineering, or solutions engineering in aerospace or defense.
  • Understanding of secure environments and SCIF operations.
  • Ability to work across prime contractor cultures and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mission integration efforts across multiple satellite programs.
  • Analyze customer requirements and identify gaps in current solutions.
  • Develop sequence diagrams, prototypes, and other artifacts to support integration and testing.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to translate mission needs into actionable features.
  • Engage with customers early in the mission lifecycle to shape solutions and provide counter-proposals.
  • Work across ground systems, space systems, and software layers to ensure seamless integration.
  • Help define and evolve the mission integration function for the broader team.
