About The Position

The basic function of the Mission Critical MEP Superintendent is to coordinate and supervise electrical, mechanical, and plumbing activities and subcontractors. The Mission Critical MEP Superintendent reports to and is directly accountable to the General Superintendent.

Requirements

  • 8 years of supervisory experience in the construction field.
  • Heavy Mechanical and or Electrical background
  • Experience acting as the MEP Superintendent on mission critical / data center projects from conception to completion
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods).
  • Through knowledge of MEP trades
  • Thorough knowledge of all safety requirements.
  • The ability to motivate employees and handle any situation that occurs on the project.
  • Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers with full use of hands, arms and fingers.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or work at any height.
  • Lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
  • 10 or more years of supervisory experience in the construction field
  • Heavy Mechanical and or Electrical background within a commercial GC or subcontractor in a supervisory role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing construction efforts to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives and other contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions.
  • Supervise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades as required by the contract.
  • May authorize and approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods and equipment as required.
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards.
  • Ensure all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, etc. Document all violations; notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • Work closely with the Safety Director to create a constant awareness including rigid enforcement of the requirements of Ajax Building Company's Safety Policy.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Perform and/or supervise building layout and field engineering.
