About The Position

The Mission Command & Simulation Instructor provides comprehensive instructional, technical, and operational support to the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE) by delivering Mission Command Systems (MCS) instruction, simulation training, and warfighting-focused staff support. This role supports both institutional courses (CCC, BOLC, ALC, SLC) and operational units training at Fort Leonard Wood and across the region. The instructor will train Soldiers and leaders in digital systems, scenario execution, TOC operations, MDMP, and the integration of the Army’s six Warfighting Functions (Mission Command, Movement & Maneuver, Intelligence, Fires, Sustainment, and Protection) during simulation-based events. The position requires strong doctrinal understanding and the ability to role-play and mentor staff positions across all WfF areas during events. This position is contingent on contract award

Requirements

  • Experience instructing and/or operating Mission Command Systems such as CPCE and JBC-P.
  • Experience with Army simulation systems (VBS3, DXTRS, or similar platforms).
  • Working knowledge of MDMP, OPORD development, staff processes, and TOC operations.
  • Familiarity with LSCO, DATE, and modern Army operational frameworks.
  • Ability to deliver clear, engaging instruction to Soldiers and leaders at multiple echelons.
  • Strong understanding of Army doctrine including FM 6-0, FM 5-0, and ADP 3-0.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and digital workflow tools.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, teamwork, and analytical skills.
  • SECURITY CLEARANCE: Favorable T1/NACI required; ability to obtain and maintain a CAC and comply with DoD IA/OPSEC requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior BN/BDE staff experience in any Warfighting Function.
  • Experience supporting institutional Army training (CCC, BOLC, ALC, SLC).
  • Background in developing or modifying simulation training scenarios.
  • Instructor or Small Group Leader experience.
  • Experience in joint or multi-component training environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction on Mission Command Systems, including CPCE, JBC-P, and related MCASP platforms.
  • Instruct and support Army simulation systems such as VBS3, DXTRS, and other virtual/constructive simulation tools.
  • Provide SME-level role-player support across all six Warfighting Functions (WfF) during staff exercises, TOC operations, and simulation events.
  • Support the development, modification, and execution of simulation scenarios aligned with OPORDs, training objectives, and doctrinal requirements.
  • Conduct simulation database management, including updates, backups, migrations, and preparation for training events.
  • Assist students through the MDMP process, including OPORD/FRAGO development, planning products, and staff synchronization.
  • Execute HICON/White Cell functions by issuing OPORDs, answering RFIs, and ensuring doctrinally accurate higher command interactions.
  • Conduct operational readiness checks on all digital and simulation systems; coordinate repairs and report deficiencies to G6 IT.
  • Coordinate closely with Small Group Leaders (SGLs) on class requirements, student groupings, rosters, passwords, and event preparation.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder coaching to reinforce digital system proficiency and staff integration during exercises.
  • Participate in planning sessions, IPRs, weekly scheduling meetings, and coordination with Government oversight.
  • Support up to 133 classes and 85 training events per year, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and doctrinal soundness of instruction.
  • Maintain and update lesson plans, POIs, and training materials in accordance with evolving Mission Command systems and Army doctrine.
  • Assist in classroom setup, breakdown, cleanliness, and equipment management to ensure continuous training readiness.
  • Expertise in one or more of the six Army Warfighting Functions and the ability to role-play/mentor BN and BDE staff positions during exercises: Mission Command Movement & Maneuver Intelligence Fires Sustainment Protection
