Mission Benedict is a staff and volunteer run food pantry and clothing bank. This position is responsible for the general operations which includes managing the receiving and distribution of food, donations, community garden, Helping Hands financial assistance program and other services run through Mission Benedict. Community outreach is also a major component of this position.

  • Monitor compliance of applicable standards to include but not limited to; state licensing OARs, CCS policies, Program Procedures, and the Individual Support Plan (ISP) for person’s receiving services.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
  • Implement updated program policies and handbooks in conjunction with CYFS Program Director
  • Maintain facilities and report issues to CYFS Program Director
  • Take corrective action to eliminate health and safety issues or hazardous conditions and practices by the end of the shift on which they were observed.
  • Responsible for supporting successful licensing or compliance standards of all assigned programs.
  • Responsible for supporting the broader program vision, standardization of systems, quality service and supporting the overall program compliance and maintaining a high level of service quality across all service areas.
  • Model leadership, self-accountability and professionalism to support a safe, welcoming and positive environment for those we serve, visitors and our workforce.
  • Hire, train and manage Mission volunteers and staff in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure high quality outcomes are delivered.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular workforce meetings, organize and coordinate workforce schedules and duties, to staff the various programs under Mission Benedict.
  • Keep accurate records for compliance with CCS, MPFS, Food Handler’s, and other agencies and collaborating partners and/or grants.
  • Implementation and monitoring of food pantry databases, tracking program utilization, and complete reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and budgets for the various Mission Benedict programs.
  • Ensure adequate staffing within the program(s) and accurate tracking and billing of services as applicable to meet YFS services goals.
  • Provide site and service orientation and training for assigned programs.
  • Open and manage day to day operations of Mission Benedict & other programs.
  • Work with CYFS Program Managers, CYFS Program Director and other department staff to plan/implement programs and services that support Mission Benedict’s mission, vision and strategic plan.
  • Works with leadership and staff to inform the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and special projects related to Mission Benedict programs and CYFS Programs.
  • Collaborate with CCS Communications Department on promotional materials, advertising, grant writing, donation seeking, etc.
  • Establish and maintain community collaborations and public relations.
  • Help organize and coordinate annual volunteer events, and other community and special events for all Mission Benedict programs and CYFS Programs.
  • Order food from Marion Polk Food Share for all meal and food programs, arrange pickup, deliveries, stocking, maintain inventory and track needs for food distribution.
  • Limited case management duties with clients whose needs cannot be met through Helping Hands, supporting with referrals to CCS and Partner Programs.
  • Develop seasonal garden plans, planting schedules, tracking of garden plots, and assist with design of master plan for campus food production.
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum three (3) years’ work experience in related field.
  • Experience includes working with or supporting low-income populations.
  • Availability for occasional weekend or evening events.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver license within 30 days of hire) and a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy and personal automobile liability insurance coverage.
  • Have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Model and utilize the interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a diverse children, youth and family stability program and services environment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of community resources.
  • Use appropriate crisis intervention skills, organization approved parenting practices and curriculum/models, trauma informed care principles and services.
  • Practice quality improvement principles, practices, and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong computer skills that include Microsoft Word, Outlook (Email), Excel spreadsheets and database software.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Identify and access family support services and programs.
  • Guide, analyze and resolve problems and complex issues in a professional manner and with sound judgment.
  • Effectively communicate in written, verbal, and non-verbal contexts, formal and informal settings and in large and small group environments.

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Russian
  • Experience supervising children, youth, and employees.
  • Experience with volunteers’ management, food bank operations or similar field.
