The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch. The GEOINT Futures Office supports the acquisition of a complex national-intelligence electro-optical satellites. We are looking for a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer – Mission Assurance Engineering . This position is for direct customer technical support for the application of Mission Assurance (MA) standards. As a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer- Mission Assurance Engineering you will work directly with customer counterparts, prime contractor, subcontractors, and Aerospace’s own experts for coordinating issue resolution on the application and compliance of Mission Assurance standards (both technical and programmatic). The selected candidate will be required to work full time, on site in Chantilly, VA

Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer- Mission Assurance Engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the development and delivery of remote sensing systems and subsystems
  • Involvement with risk management processes including communication, mitigation and adjudication of risk
  • Experience with defining and tailoring of Mission Assurance Standards
  • Exposure with supplier oversight, source inspection, and requirements verification
  • Familiarity with the processes and practices of traditional MA disciplines
  • Ability to travel about 25-50%
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government.
  • U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-profile, quick turn-around tasks as an individual contributor or as a team lead

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics.
  • Expertise and detailed understanding of appropriate government, military, industry, and Mission Assurance standards and their application at all levels of the supply chain
  • Expertise with the application of industry workmanship standards and parts quality (industry certification)
  • Experience in chairing Parts, Materials and Process Control Boards (PMPCB)
  • Familiarity with parts acquisition & control board procedures, reliability, and anomaly detection and mitigation
  • Understanding of radiation hardness issues, manufacturing techniques, qualification, and screening, and uses of integrated circuits, including typical failure mechanisms and other problems

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support across the program for traditional MA disciplines including PMP, hardware and software quality, environments, reliability, survivability, contamination and systems safety in defining, implementing and verifying compliance with established program MA requirements
  • Actively monitor the supply chain throughout program life cycle to implement and verify MA requirements and deliver on program risk management processes
  • Define Mission Assurance Standards baseline for a next generation system
  • Formulate and present positions on technical issues and brief the customer on high interest topics concerning traditional Mission Assurance disciplines
  • Effectively guide Aerospace’s Engineering and Technology Group resources to meet program needs
