CFD Research is looking to fill our intern class for the Summer of 2025. Interns in this program will be responsible for modeling and simulation for a wide array of aerospace applications. As a part of this internship, the candidate will model, simulate, analyze, and optimize strike and interceptor missiles. The engineer will join a team of multi-disciplinary engineers to provide analysis and M&S of various missile components including airframe design, sensors, navigation systems, command and control, and system dynamics. The engineer will use 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) tools to simulate capabilities of offensive and defense weapons to inform optimization. The engineer will use these M&S tools to provide and analyze data for a variety of systems and subsystems. The engineer will utilize formal optimization processes to shape trajectories, identify optimal guidance and control strategies, and design thermal protection systems. The program runs 8-12 weeks over the summer and has flexible start and finish dates based on candidate's availability (typically mid-May to August). Each CFD Research Internship has both a mentor and technical manager to help guide them on their research project over the summer. In addition to challenging technical work, CFD Research's program offers professional development and social activities designed to help our interns have a great, all-around summer internship experience.
