About The Position

The Ministry Associate at The Salvation Army's Boston Kroc Center plays a vital role in supporting the Corps Officer and leading youth in spiritual growth. This part-time position involves a commitment to fostering a positive environment for young people and assisting in various ministry activities and programs.

Requirements

  • Must uphold Biblical standards in personal and professional life, including fiscal support of the Corps Ministry.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Responsible, accountable, respectful, positive role model and be able to follow instructions.
  • Must possess a willingness to drive a 12-Passenger van.
  • Ability to read and write effectively; follow written instructions, adhere to policy and procedure of The Salvation Army.
  • Coordinate the effective flow of work through the general office for the corps and programs.
  • Receive the public on behalf of the Salvation Army and assist by directing them to appropriate areas.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of professionalism and confidentiality during and after employment, in all matters.
  • Strong knowledge of computers is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Haitian-Creole is a plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed, including dining room, outdoor/indoor activities, children with problems, daily devotions, etc.
  • Responsible to be involved in ALL CORPS PROGRAMS, in a leadership, participatory, support or advisory capacity to foster their development.
  • Responsible for assisting with driving responsibilities, as necessitated by Corps Program Schedule.
  • Responsible for assisting with basic maintenance and cleanliness of program space.
  • Attend and contribute to all General Staff & Ministry Team Meetings.
  • Responsible for the supervision of assigned staff.
  • To assist with the oversight of all program schedule activities, special events, building security, etc.
  • To train or mentor youth for occupational endeavors and foster leadership whenever possible.
  • To assist with the organization of fundraisers assisting in funding the overall Corps Ministry.
  • To provide safety procedures for all participants (Plan of Action) must know evacuation plan and procedure, should have a contingency plan in case of need.
  • To provide a suitable atmosphere throughout the Corps, that is in line with Army standards and encourages moderation in behavior, language, etc.
  • To bring to the attention of the Corps Officers any problems and/needs of the Corps and must keep the Corps Officers informed about activities and prospective ministry opportunities, from membership.
  • To facilitate, in every way possible, the mission of The Salvation Army at the direction of the Corps Officers.
  • Assist for coordinating Special Events calendar for the Boston Kroc Corps.
  • Responsible for assisting with Christmas Fundraising Efforts.
