About The Position

North Shelby Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Minister of Music to help lead our church in Christ-centered, gospel-rich worship. Located along Highway 280 in Birmingham, Alabama, North Shelby is a growing, multi-generational church that treasures God's Word, loves to sing, and is committed to making disciples locally and globally. Our worship style is best described as blended. Each Sunday, our choir and orchestra help lead the congregation in songs that stir both the mind and the heart. We prioritize congregational singing with a rich diet of historic and modern hymns, as well as newer songs. We desire to worship as described in Ephesians 5:19, “addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart” We are an expositional preaching church with a high view of the Word of God. North Shelby is also a missions-minded church with a growing student and children's ministry. Our facilities are located in the heart of Shelby County, home to excellent schools and a vibrant community that's a great place to raise a family. We're seeking someone who is musically gifted, doctrinally sound, and pastorally minded—someone who can work alongside our pastoral staff to shepherd the church in worship and help raise up the next generation of worshipers. BASIC FUNCTIONS : The Minister of Music shall serve the Lord and North Shelby Baptist Church as a member of the Ministerial Staff. The Minister of Music shall be responsible to the Congregation, its Pastor and the Personnel Committee and work in concert with all Church committees in accomplishing the following duties and responsibilities of this position. The Minister ofMusic will be a member of North Shelby Baptist Church.

Requirements

• The Minister of Music will have knowledge, experience, skill, and spiritual maturity to lead the music ministry of the Church effectively and efficiently.
• The incumbent will be proficient in implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the ministry providing periodic reports to the Congregation, Personnel Committee or the Music and Worship Committee regarding progress in the performance of these responsibilities.
• All Church Ministerial Staff must pass a criminal and financial background check before beginning work.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pastor with worship planning.
• Continually seek God's will and guidance for the music program of the Church, by spending time in prayer and study and in consultation with the Pastor and other Ministerial staff.
• Coordinate the program of music education for preschool and grade school children, youth, andadults, encouraging the development of leadership from the membership.
• Supervise the Church Pianist(s) and Instrumental Coordinator and the Director, School of Performing Arts.
• Supervise all music personnel.
• Direct the adult choir, selecting appropriate music and guiding them to worship the Lord vocally, and thus aiding the congregation to worship.
• Direct congregational singing, selecting hymns and/or choruses that can aid the hearts of the worshippers in praise, adoration, and edification.
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the music ministry.
