The Position 2nd Shift Mining Manager Job Summary Position Summary The 2nd Shift Mining Supervisor is responsible for overseeing mining activities during the second shift with a focus on supervising equipment operators, monitoring dewatering systems, and maintaining heavy mobile equipment (HME) availability. This position ensures safe production, adherence to company policies and MSHA regulations, and effective coordination between crews and shifts.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in mining, quarry operations, or heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of mining production processes and heavy equipment.
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work a consistent 2nd shift schedule, including occasional weekends or holidays.

  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise equipment operators to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings, safety briefings, and end-of-shift reviews.
  • Coordinate mining activities to meet production goals and maintain consistent material feed.
  • Monitor and track HME availability, utilization, and performance; communicate equipment issues to management and HME contractors.
  • Oversee the health and operation of all dewatering pumps; ensure proper function and report abnormalities.
  • Maintain accurate logs of pump performance, downtime, and corrective actions.
  • Enforce MSHA and company safety regulations; conduct routine field inspections.
  • Prepare comprehensive end-of-shift reports summarizing production, equipment status, and crew performance.
  • Maintain strong communication with the Day Shift Supervisor and Mine Manager to ensure continuity.
