About The Position

The Mine Engineer position at Lhoist North America is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their mine engineering experience while working in an outdoor environment. The role involves developing short and medium-term mine plans, maintaining mine models, conducting surveys, and ensuring quality control in mining operations. The engineer will collaborate with corporate teams to implement long-term quarry plans and ensure operations remain within budget while achieving ore inventory targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent relevant education and experience.
• Minimum of four to seven (4-7) years' experience in surface mining, preferably in the lime or cement industry.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Excel (advanced), PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice To Haves

• MS Degree in Mine Engineering or related field.
• Previous surface mining operation experience with at least eight (8) years' experience.
• Experience with survey equipment and drones.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly volume surveys in all active pits and ore stockpiles for volume and ore reconciliation.
• Reconcile production volumes with end of month and annual aerial surveys.
• Update mining models and pit topography for short-term planning accuracy.
• Survey and track quality control data to define ore zone contact limits in pits.
• Maintain mine plan records for future reference and adjacent pattern layouts.
• Create short and medium-term mine plans and communicate them to quarry operators.
• Coordinate exploratory drilling campaigns, including logging and organizing samples for analysis.
• Support the development of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual mine and waste storage plans.
• Conduct periodic audits and trainings of ore sampling protocols with quarry personnel.
