The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities. The new hire will join the Space Planning, Readiness, and Operations (SPRO) Department team to provide operationally focused space solutions for warfighter and end user in support of our Department of War (DoW), Intelligence Community (IC), and civil customers. We serve as the EED and ETG entry point for wargaming and exercises, space operations planning, and operationally-relevant solutions support to connect corporate technical capabilities and operational requirements, integrate capabilities across the space enterprise, and educate the workforce on space operations and warfighting. Work Model 100% Onsite: This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, CO, which requires 100% onsite work at Schriever Space Force Base.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in engineering, mathematics, technical science, or relevant field.
  • 12 or more years of experience of increasing responsibility in MILSATCOM terminal system development, sustainment, or operations.
  • Experience in the control, planning, provisioning, and execution of Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) MILSATCOM and DoD-leased commercial SATCOM missions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform systems engineering, test, and evaluation in one or more of the following MILSATCOM terminal systems: Modernization of Enterprise Terminals (MET), Frequency and Time Division Multiple Access (FDMA / TDMA) modems, baseband, or DoD Information Network (DoDIN) backhaul connectivity.
  • Insight and understanding of WGS Payload SATCOM operations and missions/customers/users involved with the programs.
  • Demonstrated technical skills of SATCOM ground communications and control systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
  • Ability to support 24/7 operations in support of anomalies and to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain access to Sensitive Information (SCI), which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Experience developing software applications and tools supporting performance analysis or data manipulation using modern object-oriented or scripting languages.
  • Experience in an additional domain besides space (e.g., ground, maritime, air).
  • Experience with different space operations mission areas/functions such as electronic warfare (EW), orbital warfare (OW), space domain awareness (SDA), intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), command and control (C2), position, navigation, and timing (PNT), and missile warning missile tracking (MW/MT).
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access.

Responsibilities

  • Providing systems engineering, integration, and test expertise to support the 53rd Space Operations Squadron (53SOPS) Wideband Mission Planning Cell (MPC), the sustainment of the Wideband Operational Management System of Systems (WSOMS) including Global Satellite Configuration Control Element (GSCCE), Common Network Planning Software (CNPS), Remote Management and Control Equipment (RMCE), Wideband SATCOM Trend Analysis and Anomaly Resolution System (WSTARS), and other WSOMS subsystems.
  • Providing system integration to the Wideband MPC, Wideband Control Branch, Wideband SATCOM Operations Centers, Regional SATCOM Support Centers, and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) SATCOM and Teleport Operations support during all phases of operations (e.g., day-to-day, contingency, non-routine, and emergency).
  • Providing sustainment engineering support to USSF operators and sustainers at the 8th Sustainment Squadron (8STS) and 53rd Space Operations Squadron (53SOPS).
  • Providing expertise for identifying, developing, evaluating, and testing modifications and enhancements to space and ground systems capabilities prior to fielding of new wideband SATCOM enterprise and tactical systems.
  • Providing expertise for evaluating, testing, integrating, and fielding new control and management systems or capabilities such as the Beam Optimization and Operational Management (BOOM) systems, Power and Control Management System (PCMS), Enterprise Satellite Communications Management and Control (ESC-MC), and Joint Management Tool (JMT) that will integrate with the Wideband MILSATCOM portfolio.
  • Providing support for the research, development, test, and evaluation of SATCOM system technology refreshment activities and emerging programs.
  • Directly interacting with various organizations, including Headquarters Combat Forces Command (CFC), U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM), DEL 8, 53SOPS, DISA, National Security Agency (NSA), SSC staff offices, other Combatant Commands, and MILSATCOM management boards and working groups to ensure adequate issue resolution and mission performance.
  • Collaborating closely with the Aerospace and Government representatives in the MILSATCOM Operations and Sustainment Office in Colorado Springs (Peterson SFB, Schriever SFB) and other Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), other Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), University-Affiliated Research Centers (UARC), other DoD agencies, and SSC staff in El Segundo, CA.
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of corporate management through timely reporting of technical issues and recommendations.
