About The Position

Wyman-Gordon, located in Brighton MI, provides Nickel-based Extruded Powder Alloy for Military and Commercial Turbine Applications. The Brighton MI facility offers Vacuum-Melt Atomizers, Lathes, and Equipment for Complete Billet Processing and Certification. This growing, profit center is part of a highly successful, multi-billion diversified manufacturer. Precision Castparts Corporation (PCP). Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Experienced Millwright to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex mechanical systems within our high-volume manufacturing environment. This role requires a versatile individual capable of working independently or as part of a team to ensure maximum equipment uptime and facility reliability.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience working as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various conditions, including elevated heights, tight spaces, and varying temperatures.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification/License: Journeyman Millwright license strongly preferred; Weld Certification is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical failures in production machinery, material handling systems, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, pumps, gearboxes, and motors. Execute timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules and procedures. This includes lubrication, alignment checks, vibration analysis, filter changes, and general inspection of equipment health.
  • Installation & Rigging: Install new machinery and equipment using precise leveling and alignment techniques. Safely rig, hoist, and move heavy equipment using cranes, hoists, and forklifts, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
  • Welding & Fabrication: Perform various welding tasks (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and basic fabrication as needed for repairs, modifications, and equipment installations.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all plant safety rules, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures, confined space entry protocols, and proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Actively participate in safety meetings and hazard identification.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate maintenance records within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) regarding work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with operations staff, management, and fellow maintenance technicians to coordinate repairs and projects.
