About The Position

The Millwright position at Foss involves maintenance and repair work on lighterage barges in Tacoma, Washington, and Red Dog, Alaska. The role requires the ability to identify and repair issues related to conveyor systems and other machinery, ensuring safe operations and adherence to safety protocols. The position is full-time, with a standard workweek of 4 days, 10 hours a day in Tacoma, and a shift of 9.75 hours per day in Alaska. The Millwright is on call 24/7 and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• Must pass a physical-fit exam.
• Must possess a valid or be willing to obtain a TWIC card.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems is required.
• Welding and fabrication skills are necessary.

• Basic knowledge or comprehension of operating machinery, pumps, fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain lighterage barge conveyor systems.
• Assist in overall maintenance and repair of barge systems including parts and lubricating systems.
• Perform oil changes and other routine maintenance tasks.
• Inspect and report any issues with barge conveyor systems.
• Assist in welding and fabricating steel frames.
• Participate in the Lead Compliance Program with respect to quarterly blood testing and proper utilization of respiratory protection.
