About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking a Millwright for a maintenance position in Port Sulphur, LA. The Millwright position installs and/or maintains machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blues, drawings and written instructions in industrial establishments. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties according to specific procedures and frequent checks on work. The schedule is 7 / 12s, and there is no per-diem offered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).
• Some job sites may require NCCER certification.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Reads blues and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines and moves machinery and equipment.
• Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers.
• Aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment method.
• Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures.
• May operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• May be involved in the grouting activity for equipment base plates.
• Removes plant equipment, disassembles, repairs, and reinstalls.
