About The Position

To monitor processes in the area of responsibility to ensure equipment and control parameters function as designed. To ensure the process is operated in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s Degree in Industrial Systems and Engineering Technology or Craftsmen Certification, i.e., NCCER, NCCCO, NACE, etc., or equivalent, or at least 3years’ experience in the related field.
  • High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • An Associate’s Degree in Industrial Systems and Engineering Technology or Craftsmen Certification, i.e., NCCER, NCCCO, NACE, etc.
  • Be able to obtain within 90 days of employment and hold a “TWIC” –Transportation Workers Identification Card for the duration of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Basic hand tools - used daily to repair equipment
  • Precision tools - used daily for precise measurements in setting gearboxes, building mechanical seals, alignment of pumps, motors, mixers, and compressors.
  • Historical Files - used daily to help troubleshoot equipment and to store data collected for future use.
  • Computer knowledge for Prism training and AS400 system.
  • OEM Manuals - frequently used when problems arise to find manufacturer information on equipment and also to find phone contacts if verbal assistance is needed.
  • Rolling stock - such as forklift, manlift, drott, truck used daily to pull equipment for shop work, staging tools and equipment at job site, access to overhead work, and transportation to various units in the plant.
  • Shop tools - grinder, drill press, etc., used daily to help perform regular maintenance on equipment in the shop.
  • Electronic devices - vibration probe, pyrometer, etc., used daily to determine on-the-spot predictive maintenance data to help troubleshoot potential problems.
  • Teamwork - using daily the knowledge of others and their input daily will greatly help troubleshoot and complete jobs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the work order assignment efficiently and safely with quality workmanship.
  • Care for and manage the tools necessary for work performance, their own or the departments.
  • Supply and have available the necessary tools for work performance per the Policy directives and purchase replacement tools in the event of loss or damage.
  • Provide the engineers with a root-cause diagnosis for each equipment failure.
  • Fill out necessary warehouse commodity requests with the correct account code and cost center information and submit to the supervisor or appropriate approval authority for execution.
  • Provide information to the engineer and supervisor for observations in the field of abnormal situations and possible failure, even if they fall outside the steward’s immediate area of responsibility.
  • Cross-training with another steward for back-ups and coverage during vacation or time off.
  • Complete required training to become a competent scaffold person, qualified rigger and signal person.
  • Review of historical file to ensure that your equipment history is accurate and representative of all failures, special notes, and changes are inclusive for the benefit of any other steward who may be called out to perform work on your equipment.
  • Accurately and neatly fill out work orders to ensure that the engineer and data entry clerk can perform their responsibilities efficiently.
  • Update P.M. work scope to accurately reflect the work performance.
  • Modify each to fit the specific equipment for which the scope is assigned.
  • Participate in total housekeeping management.
  • Report any production loss, safety incident, or environmental spill resulting from performance of your work in the area of your responsibility.
  • Study and suggest improvements that will lower costs in your individual area of responsibility, discuss with the supervisor and engineer to determine if they can be performed without effect to design or process, and within the parameters and guidelines of FPC Policy.
  • Study and maintain proficiency in technical responsibilities, be prepared to be tested and assessed in your abilities to perform your job skills, including knowledge of the department and equipment SOPs.
  • Assume the responsibilities as a PIC (person in charge) of Contract or Unit Rate Work packages to direct their activities, monitor and update their progress, and ensure their work quality in order to complete their work scope as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Work well with others in a team environment.
  • Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
  • Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup, and disposal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
