We are currently seeking talented individuals for a Millwright (Off-Shift) position at the Rocket Center, WV location just outside of Cumberland MD. The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center designs, develops, and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. For decades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL have supported national security efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies. Rocket Center, WV is located along the North Branch Potomac River in Mineral County, West Virginia and is home to the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL), a government installation operated by Northrop Grumman. Known for its scenic mountain landscapes, rolling hills and state parks, the region offers a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities to include hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, hunting and whitewater rafting. Where can you get to from Rocket Center? We are just a couple hours from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Pittsburgh and not far from Philadelphia, Virginia and Ohio. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Essential reading skills required.
  • Ability to work all 3 shifts.
  • Candidates must have mechanical ability and exhibit skills to perform above duties.
  • 5 years’ experience in mechanical work installing & repairing complex machines & mechanical equipment such as lathes, mills, CNC machines, etc.
  • Approved rigging training and at least 2 years rigging experience is required.
  • Tech School graduate in Millwright Field and 3 years hands on experience OR a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a journeyman millwright OR equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, dismantle, repair, assemble, service and erect various types of mechanical production equipment.
  • Inspect equipment periodically to discover and prevent mechanical defects.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings of equipment on the plant and perform work according to such drawings and specifications.
  • Perform other related duties as directed, including indoor and fieldwork.
  • Read prints and schematics of CNC equipment.
  • Communicate with factory service personnel.
  • Measure to exacting tolerances for machine adjustments.
  • Fabricate special fixtures of equipment per fabrication drawings.
  • Demonstrate good work attitude and proven ability to learn repairs on new equipment.

Benefits

  • Pay rate of $34.39 per hour, which is a union rate and nonnegotiable.
  • Rate will increase by $1.00 per hour each year until the end of the contract in 2029.
  • Working the off shift will add $0.63 to the hourly rate.
