About The Position

The Certified Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, alignment, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Millwright credential (journeyman-level or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and rotating equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments
  • Knowledge of rigging practices and load calculations
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized millwright apprenticeship program
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience in power plants, refineries, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Experience with laser alignment systems and vibration analysis

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, align, and dismantle industrial machinery and mechanical systems
  • Perform precision alignment of motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and rotating equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform corrective and preventive maintenance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Perform rigging, hoisting, and lifting operations using cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
  • Measure, layout, and verify tolerances using precision tools (dial indicators, micrometers, laser alignment)
  • Perform bearing installation, shaft alignment, and coupling installation
  • Conduct equipment inspections and document maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively with electricians, welders, operators, and engineers
  • Support equipment upgrades, outages, shutdowns, and turnarounds
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe working condition
