About The Position

The Millwright II is responsible for the fabrication, design, construction, diagnosis, and rebuild of machinery and equipment to implement and improve the manufacturing process while preventing and minimizing work downtime. This role involves installing machinery according to layout plans and blueprints, performing minor electrical and mechanical repairs, and interacting with engineering and operations support to troubleshoot equipment issues. The position also includes developing and documenting procedures for new jobs, training others, and supporting safety initiatives within the company.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years' experience in machine repair.
  • Must be safety conscious.
  • Ability to enter Incident/Hazard into Velocity.
  • LOTO Certified.
  • Trained on use of enforcers and water trucks.
  • Trained/authorized PAI for Hot Work.
  • Must have an existing chauffeur's license and maintain a DOT medical card.
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineered drawings/blueprints.
  • Experience with hydraulic schematics and machine repair.
  • Ability to use calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with welding and fabrication applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Proven attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Ability to climb and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs of steel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Scrap Recycling Industry.
  • Working knowledge of conveyors.
  • Understanding of Controls.

Responsibilities

  • Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs and diagnose issues on production equipment.
  • Interact with engineering, operations support, and product development to troubleshoot machinery and equipment.
  • Develop and document procedures on new jobs or rebuilds for permanent records.
  • Train other team members in required skills.
  • Support training, development, and onboarding of new peers.
  • Act as a stand-in lead on specific jobs and projects as needed.
  • Support safety initiatives and training within the department.
