About The Position

The Millwright Foreman plays a crucial role in leading a team of millwrights and ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment in industrial settings. They oversee all aspects of millwright work, including planning, scheduling, supervision, and quality control, to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in millwrighting is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a millwright, with at least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance and installation, including 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment commonly found in industrial settings.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Millwright Certification or Journeyman Millwright License (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety Certification (preferred).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Supervision:
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of millwrights, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on skill levels, workload, and project requirements.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Planning and Scheduling:
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for millwright activities.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials, tools, and equipment needed for millwright work.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Installation and Assembly:
  • Oversee the installation, assembly, alignment, and leveling of machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems according to blueprints, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Ensure that all installations meet safety, quality, and performance requirements, and comply with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify the functionality and integrity of installed equipment.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems, troubleshoot issues, and develop effective repair strategies to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and prioritize repairs based on urgency and impact on operations.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to promote a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to educate team members on safe work practices and hazard mitigation.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of work activities, including work orders, inspections, tests, and repairs.
  • Generate reports on project progress, resource utilization, and equipment performance.
  • Document changes to equipment configurations, installations, and maintenance procedures for future reference.
