Role Overview: Under general supervision, this role is responsible for independently setting up, running, and inspecting CNC milling centers primarily OKUMA 3, 4, and 5‑axis machines, as well as Robodrill and Matsuura equipment. The machinist ensures high‑quality part production through accurate setups, effective troubleshooting, and the completion of thorough, independent first‑piece inspections on all fabricated components.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC milling centers, including OKUMA, Robodrill, and Matsuura machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints clearly to ensure accurate setups, machining operations, and inspection activities.
  • Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspections, applying a strong understanding of GD&T standards to verify critical dimensions and features.
  • Maintain high productivity through efficient setups, proper machine operation, and effective troubleshooting.
  • Use precision measuring tools and inspection records to ensure accuracy while minimizing scrap and rework.
  • Identify and communicate potential product or process issues to uphold IMI quality expectations.
  • Keep documentation accurate, neat, and complete, including work orders, time entries, and inspection records.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation while following all safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Continue developing machining and inspection skills to support flexibility within the department.
  • Support team success through positive communication and collaboration.
  • Train new operators as needed and perform other assigned duties.
