About The Position

We are seeking a Milling Machinist to join our facility in Canoga Park Ca (Los Angeles area). This is a Union position. Enjoy work/life balance at our Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area) site. At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover. Essential Functions: Operate Fanuc, Siemens and HAAS controllers. Make CNC machining setups, proofing CNC tapes, and performing 1st Article inspections. Adapt / improve tooling when standard tooling is not available. Use precision hand tools, micrometers, indicators, Jo blocks, gages, etc. to ensure parts are setup and machined to meet blueprint requirements. Write and use basic CNC code to machine fixtures or hardware. Use electronic work instructions, specifications, and drawings to meet customer requirements. Follow work instructions, manage time efficiently, and get along with co-workers Must have a proven safety record.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred with 5 years of experience on 4 and/or 5 axis CNC Mills, performing contouring, profiling, turning, back-spot facing, boring, milling, drilling, slotting, thread milling and tapping on hardware, assemblies and tooling.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PPE and hazardous machine shop chemicals.
  • Working knowledge of basic shop math, geometry, and trigonometry for determining cutter speeds / feeds, part reference points, angles and positions.
  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance.

Responsibilities
