Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking an Milling Machine Machinist 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA where technology and teamwork come together. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, and 1 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints/sketches or other engineering specifications.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments - Micrometers, Preset Torque tools, Reference inspection gauges, Dial indicators.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to pass medical exam with no respiratory requirement.
  • Ability to work ANY shift- 4/10 1st or 2nd, 3/10 1st or 2nd.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with robotics and CNC Machining.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming software.
  • Willingness to learn CNC programming.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours.
  • Bores compound angular holes; does helical and spiral milling; serrates; and cuts gears, splines, and keyways to exacting tolerances.
  • Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling.
  • Plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
  • Determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Makes standard shop computations; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
  • Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
