About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. Job Summary: Supervises the daily activities of a group of general labor employees. Determines workday operational activities and production, implements proper policies and procedures. Familiar with production processes. Relies on skills, knowledge, and experience to accomplish all assigned tasks. Reviews all activities looking to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Requirements

  • The Mill-hand is an entry level position at PTC Alliance. Mill-hands are encouraged to learn as many processes as possible to promote flexibility in the work force and ensure maximum utilization of personnel.
  • Based on the responsibilities and functions of this position, a High School diploma or equivalent may be required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for business travel, such as, customer visits, to attend required meeting, seminars, etc.

  • Prior Manufacturing experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Produce Product to established productivity and quality goals
  • Record productivity information throughout the course of the shift where applicable. Obtain help from Shift Supervisor or technical personnel when productivity drops below established levels during the shift.
  • Accurately and legibly complete job paperwork so that product traceability, lot quantities, and status can be determined.
  • Understand and employ safety practices for the work area.
  • Monitor assigned work areas for any unsafe practices in the work area.
  • Point out any unsafe operations or work practices using the near miss program and follow up to make sure needed corrective actions to process area made.
  • Notify Shift Supervisor of any accidents (i.e. personal injury, co-worker injury, property damage, etc.) as soon as they happen.
  • Perform and legibly record product quality checks per control plans and work instructions.
  • Ensure housekeeping expectations are being met.
