About The Position

The Mill Operator is responsible for tending to processes that grind rock and ore, ensuring the achievement of required material fineness through the operation of various equipment and monitoring of process control panels. This role involves performing mechanical tasks, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring compliance with quality and environmental standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and write instructions and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Prior experience in mining, metallurgy, or mineral processing industry or similar relevant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates, inspects, and monitors crushing, processing, and refining equipment to achieve the highest possible ore recovery.
• Performs mechanical tasks when needed that are within the scope of training and skills.
• Responsible for keeping a clean work area.
• Conducts pre-shift inspections, including equipment checks.
• Maintains written logs in a precise and orderly manner.
• Monitors tailings pond facilities and reports any issues to management.
• Monitors water treatment plant facilities to meet Environmental Department objectives.
• Assists with all plant operations and coordinates daily workload throughout the plant.
• Ensures all products meet 100% total quality requirements and takes samples for testing as necessary.
• Ensures all equipment remains in safe and efficient operating condition and monitors preventative maintenance.
• Maintains adequate levels of all supplies and products.
• Repairs equipment such as v-belts, conveyors, air rams, water valves, and augers.
• Operates a forklift, loader, telehandler, and concrete mixer truck.
• Communicates with operations employees via radio/phone to receive directions.
• Operates sand plant and controls feeding, crushing, and sifting material in the plant.
• Observes gauges and dials to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
• Performs basic maintenance activities, including greasing and lubing plant components.
• Performs housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and orderly work environment.
