About The Position

The Mill Operator is responsible for operating and tending to steel mills that produce welded steel coils into tubing. This role involves initial setup, quality checks, and documentation throughout the manufacturing process to ensure product accuracy and compliance with shop orders.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform manual checks and adjustments on machinery.
• Familiarity with WIP systems and production documentation.

• Experience in operating milling and planing machines.
• Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Tend one or more steel mills to form welded steel coils into tubing.
• Obtain and review the next order with Service and Takeoff Operators.
• Perform initial mill setup operations.
• Verify that staged material and packaging match shop orders.
• Manually check scarfing tools and replace them if necessary.
• Retrieve product samples, measure them, and make adjustments as needed.
• Enter results into the Work In Progress (WIP) system.
• Visually verify that tubing is correct according to specifications.
• Generate production tags for tracking purposes.
• Check tubing according to work instructions and ensure compliance.
