The position involves loading scheduled rubber material onto a mill by hand and operating the mill to remove moisture from rubber stock. The operator is responsible for monitoring milling equipment to ensure efficient operation and safety, making necessary adjustments to machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, and flow of materials. The operator must also monitor the color and surface characteristics of rubber on every batch, taking required samples and notifying the supervisor when the product does not meet required standards or when there is a malfunction with the machinery. Additional responsibilities include performing cut downs using a knife until a smooth appearance is achieved on product stock, stacking and transporting stock as needed, and cleaning rubber from rollers for re-milling. The operator is expected to maintain a clean work area, record and maintain production data, and perform other duties as assigned by the lead or supervisor.
