The Mill Machinist I is responsible for setting up and operating 3- to 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to blueprints and job specifications. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of machining practices, the ability to work independently, and a detail-oriented mindset suited to a fast-paced, one-off/prototype environment. Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience operating and setting up CNC milling machines (3-axis required; 4- or 5-axis preferred).
  • Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and feeds/speeds.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and applying GD&T principles.
  • Comfortable with basic G-code edits and troubleshooting setups.
  • Experience in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume environment is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • To comply with U.S. export regulations, such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations you must (a) be a “U.S. Person” as defined under those regulations, which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., and protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or (b) otherwise be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce, as appropriate

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills to machine parts to exact tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and job travelers.
  • Load programs, set tooling and work offsets, and verify part accuracy.
  • Perform in-process inspection using precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Make basic program edits and adjustments to improve part quality or reduce cycle time.
  • Work closely with supervisors, programmers, and quality team to ensure job requirements are met.
  • Deburr and clean parts before passing to the next operation or inspection.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
