About The Position

Provide oversight that the division achieves and maintains a superior level of environmental compliance and adherence to corporate policies. Develop understanding of the OSB manufacturing process, especially the components (e.g., Dryers, Presses, Energy Systems boilers, blenders, dust handling, etc.) that contribute to environmental impacts requiring monitoring and controls. Implement, improve and standardize EMS key controls including permit and plan parsing, compliance calendars, government submittals, document control, internal communications, auditing and training. Training and mentoring of Division Leadership and Team Member staff on Environmental Obligations. Being self-driven, and highly accountable to achieve desired goals. Build working partnerships with qualified environmental consultants that provide services to the division, as well as relevant trade/technical organizations to maintain awareness of best practices, changes in rules and regulations, and other requirements. Establish and maintain trusting and credible relationships with state environmental regulators. Manage corrective actions from internal and corporately driven audits. Perform annual review and self-assessment of environmental compliance and adherence to corporate policies. Manage Division monthly environmental reporting program and prepare reports for Corporate Environmental Management via EMS system, and other means of communication. Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of environmental experience at the facility or broader level in environmental management or engineering, preferably in wood products manufacturing.
  • State or Federal Agency experience would also be equivalent.
  • A four year degree graduate, with a Masters being optimal.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for all levels within the organization, and able to perform and work in a team-based atmosphere, driving continual environmental improvements and program excellence.
  • Deep understanding of applicable federal and state environmental regulatory programs and permitting; including air quality regulations (Title V, PSD, NESHAPs, Boiler MACT, etc.), NPDES wastewater and stormwater; spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC), SARA 312/313, waste management, potable water, and TSCA.
  • Experience with Construction Permitting processes within the air and water compliance disciplines, including expansion and project management.
  • Background in the development of sustainable and standardized controls through the application of a highly functional Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Working knowledge of emissions controls (e.g., cyclones, baghouses, ESPs, scrubbers) and stormwater/wastewater treatment systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems, and ability to manage all compliance and sustainability program obligations in an organized, efficient manner.
