Domtar Paper Company LLC is seeking a Mill Controller at its Hawesville, Kentucky location. The Mill Controller will provide essential financial and business support to operating departments with the goal of minimizing costs and optimizing mill operations. This role involves close collaboration with superintendents and managers to prepare accurate forecasts and budgets, ensuring that all financial reports comply with company policy and GAAP guidelines. The Mill Controller will be responsible for managing the preparation of both internal and external financial reports, identifying potential issues that could delay the closing process, and reviewing budget variances for outliers prior to closing. Additionally, the role requires validating inventory, including chemicals, pulp, and wood, and ensuring that known mill operations events are accurately reflected in financial results. The Mill Controller will proactively work with the Operations team to understand accounting discrepancies, assess their reasonableness, and identify any misstatements or errors. Recognizing changes in the manufacturing environment and their impact on the Profit and Loss statement is crucial. The position also involves conducting monthly reviews of costs and productivity with Operations to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving initiatives. The Mill Controller will lead, coordinate, and perform analyses for operating and capital projects aimed at optimizing performance and earnings. This includes completing Return on Investment (ROI), Profit, and Cost Reduction Analysis during gate reviews for capital projects, as well as targeted cost reduction and operational improvement projects. Maintaining relationships with all functional areas of the mill is essential, as the Mill Controller will serve as a front-end resource for financial decision-making. The role also includes coordinating and reviewing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing and reporting to meet corporate deadlines. Furthermore, the Mill Controller will maintain an effective system of internal controls that are validated through audits and comply with corporate and legal regulations. This position may require up to 10% domestic travel to visit other mills.
