About The Position

About the Role: Job Summary Performs a variety of tasks that relate to the preparation and delivery of human milk and infant/pediatric formulas and the transfer of written and electronic information concerning patient feeding orders. Techniques must adhere to all food safety/sanitation regulations and standards established by the hospital and regulatory agencies. The technician is responsible for safe and effective operation of equipment needed to prepare infant/pediatric feedings and maintain sanitation in the preparation room. Processes human milk/formula orders and maintains temperature records. Performs required quality assurance monitoring activities.

  • Ability to read, write, and perform necessary mathematical tasks at high school level or above

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately prepares and delivers human milk and enteral formulas; verifies and reconciles orders using computer systems; ensures proper product labeling; utilizes standardized recipes; accurately measures powders and liquids; adheres to quality control standards and procedures.
  • Prepares milk required for a 24-hour period for each baby.
  • Inventories and maintains sufficient stock and par levels.
  • Receives, inspects, and tracks human milk and enteral formulas.
  • Monitors expiration of products and formulas.
  • Prepares and maintains multiple logs and monthly quality assurance report.
  • Maintains sanitation in the preparation area including: follows aseptic technique, follows department and infection control policies, maintains daily appearance and personal hygiene.
  • Utilizes the chain of command to communicate problems with orders, storage, equipment, or product administration.
  • Contacts the Registered Dietitian or ordering clinician when a standardized recipe is not available.
  • Delivers prepared and ready-to-feed formula to patient care area and removes previously prepared infant feedings.
  • Uses appropriate clothes and gowning procedures in formula room.
  • Make daily trips to the hospitals in Braselton and Gainesville.
  • Other duties as assigned.
