Leidos’ Defense Systems Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Military Trailer and Shelter Mechanical Design Lead to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing the next generation of sensors to protect America and its allies. You will lead the mechanical design of the Affordable Long-range Persistent Surveillance-AF product. You will lead a design team that uses Solidworks CAD software and Windchill PLM software daily to turn ideas into designs. Then you’ll work alongside the production team to turn your designs into hardware. You might be asked to help integrate and install the hardware, and then you’ll work with the testing team to put your hardware into action. You will own the technical, cost, and schedule requirements of your team’s design. This is not your average engineering position. You will work on a team of the most talented engineers in the region who push you to be better every day. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 8 + years of applicable experience or 6 + years with MS degree.
  • Experience leading a team of mechanical engineers to develop solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Strong SolidWorks user
  • Strong desire to lead, guide, and mentor
  • Active secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Windchill PLM experience
  • Design and/or Integration experience in the following areas:
  • Power generation
  • Tactical shelter design
  • Telecommunication towers
  • Mobile tactical equipment
  • Tactical trailers

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers to close on a design solution that meets technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Structural design via Solidworks CAD software , drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5, and producing technical data packages in accordance with MIL-STD-31000
