About The Position

The position involves providing technical assistance to SURTASS mission systems, including troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and returning systems to service. Responsibilities include conducting In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) duties, generating reports on mission systems status, and conducting refresher training in accordance with established manuals. The role also requires reviewing Engineering Change Proposals and developing implementation schedules, utilizing the WILD trouble ticket application for maintenance logging, and reviewing technical manuals for recommended revisions. Additionally, the position involves identifying system/software design problems, providing on-the-job training to crew members, supporting various audits, performing reliability analysis, and maintaining Technical Data Packages for SURTASS mission systems. The position also includes performing exterior maintenance and participating in inspections. Filling this position is contingent upon funding.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in computer science, electronics technology, or be a graduate of US Navy electronics 'C' school or equivalent civilian electronics technical school.
  • Eight (8) years of practical hands-on experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Navy C5I, secure networks, communications systems, navigation systems, and sonar systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of SURTASS C4I systems, SURTASS processing systems, and SURTASS arrays (active and passive).

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical assistance to SURTASS mission systems to troubleshoot, repair, test, and return to service.
  • Conducting all tenets of In Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) responsibilities in accordance with SPAWARINST 5400 (series) and intermediate and depot level maintenance on SURTASS mission systems and support handling equipment.
  • Generating reports for SURTASS mission systems status as directed by the Government.
  • Conducting refresher training (REFTRA) in accordance with the MRR manual and SURTASS O&M Technician CTQM.
  • Reviewing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Changes (ECs), and Requests for Variance (RFV), and developing schedules for implementation.
  • Utilizing the WILD trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action in the Job Sequence Number (JSN)/Military Sealift Command (MSC) Work Request (WKRQ) log.
  • Reviewing technical manuals, publications, and maintenance procedures, and providing recommended revisions to the Government.
  • Identifying and reporting system/software design problems and deficiencies for SURTASS mission systems.
  • Providing on-the-job training (OJT) technical training to O&M Technician crew members and documenting training.
  • Supporting Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), In Process Reviews (IPRs), and Integrated Logistics Overhauls (ILOs).
  • Performing Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) analysis of SURTASS mission system.
  • Supporting and performing configuration management services for the SURTASS mission systems.
  • Updating and maintaining Technical Data Packages (TDP) for all SURTASS mission systems.
  • Performing exterior maintenance and preservation on SURTASS modular mission systems.
  • Participating in inspections (e.g. SURTASS Material Assessment and Readiness Testing (SMART) inspections).
