About The Position

The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Military Property Control Specialist located out of Camp Lincoln. Under general direction of the Chief Fiscal Officer (CFO), this position is responsible for the management, tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of the Department’s real property and capital assets in accordance with Statewide Accounts Management System (SAMS), GAAP reporting requirements, and Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC) guidelines. This position focuses exclusively on real property, building and site improvements, construction in progress (CIP), and related SAP asset activity. The Department of Military Affairs works with the members of the Illinois Air and Army National Guard. We welcome all interested applicants to apply.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of 4 years of college with course work in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field in conjunction with one year of professional experience in technical accounting for a related field, or a master’s degree in a related field.
  • Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerBI, Access, etc.) or other similar products
  • Requires working knowledge of State and Federal laws, regulations, and rules pertaining to fiscal management.
  • Requires the ability to effectively communicate with representatives of Military Affairs, Illinois National Guard, contractors, environmental agencies, material suppliers, etc.
  • Requires active or retired (20 years) membership in the Illinois National Guard or retired (minimum 20 years) US Armed forces, if last duty assignment was with the Illinois National Guard.
  • Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation and obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) prior to hire or transfer.
  • Requires limited travel within the normal workday hours. Requires a valid driver’s license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
