About The Position

Military Future Operations Planner The Opportunity: As an expert in defense missions, your unique background inspires you to think bigger, push further, and ask questions others don’t. We need your extensive industry knowledge and advisory skills to solve some of our clients’ most complex problems—and find solutions that keep our nation safe. As a Future Operations Analyst, you’ll bring your strategic perspective and service-level operational and organizational expertise to work alongside thought leaders in defense strategy, operational planning, and exercise integration. You’ll help translate long-range plans into executable actions by developing orders, coordinating exercises, and aligning future operations initiatives. You’ll identify and evaluate policies and processes to enable integrated execution of joint and service strategies across DOTMLPF domains. You’ll collaborate with operational planners to ensure continuity between planning and execution, participate in working groups and planning conferences to synchronize efforts across Service, DoD, and Joint Staff stakeholders, and provide decision support that informs operational readiness and Global Force Management alignment. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with DoD organizations
  • Experience supporting operational planning and future operations at Service Headquarters
  • Expertise applying Marine Corps Planning Process (MCPP), Joint Planning Process (JPP), and Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) methodologies
  • Experience developing EXORDs, PLANORDs, OPORDs, and LOIs for operational planning
  • Experience advising senior military and civilian leaders on campaign development, long-range planning, and DoD policy
  • Experience with Reserve Component mobilization planning and policy synchronization
  • Ability to develop and track Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and analyze directives for operational impacts
  • Ability to liaise with higher headquarters, adjacent commands, and external planning organizations
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating total force structure programs between Reserve and Active Components
  • Experience in a Combatant Command or Service Headquarters developing and delivering strategic briefings and participating in planning conferences
  • Experience with Global Force Management principles and guidance, such as GFMIG, GFMAP, GEF, JSCP, or CPG
  • Experience reviewing and updating operational directives, orders, and policies
  • Experience with task management systems such as ETMS2 and AMHS
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree
  • Completion of a Marine Corps Intermediate Level School or joint equivalent
