Requirements

• Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
• Ability to secure a Department of Defense secret clearance.
• Completion of Department of Defense fire/rescue training course as per National Fire Protection Standards 1003 and 1500.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Physical ability to operate firefighting/rescue equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates firefighting and crash/rescue equipment.
• Performs rescue duties and administers first aid and CPR.
• Conducts inspections of fire/rescue equipment and vehicles.
• Performs minor preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Serves as alarm room operator, dispatching equipment and monitoring alarm systems.
• Maintains logs of fire station calls and activities.
• Cleans vehicles, equipment, and the fire station area daily.
• Trains in fire prevention, firefighting, and crash/rescue techniques.
• Assists with inspections of buildings for fire prevention violations.
• Repairs and services fire extinguishers.
