About The Position

The Military Field Consultant - SME is responsible for supporting events that increase awareness of military community services. This role involves traveling throughout the state and/or region to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), collaborating with existing family support resources, and forming relationships with community service providers and military services. The consultant provides high-level support to service members and families, offering information and referrals for various services including relocation assistance, counseling, financial management, and transition assistance. The position also requires attending community events, identifying service gaps, facilitating collaboration between military and civilian agencies, and providing training and briefings to related groups. Additionally, the consultant maintains an online repository of state-specific information on family programs and support resources, while ensuring confidentiality in all aspects of support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent of 4 years relevant experience; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 10 years of prior military experience or relevant knowledge.
  • Additional 5 years' experience working in Military Service Programs and marketing, sales, recruiting, education, or similar networking-intensive work.
  • Strong customer service skills and knowledge of call center operations.
  • Ability to tailor communications to multiple audiences/entities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% within assigned geographical area of responsibility.
  • Experience with project administration and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Experience in customer service quality and/or help desk.

Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout the state and/or region to support events that increase awareness of military community services.

  • Attend community events and meetings to raise awareness directly within the military community.
  • Identify problems and gaps in available services/resources and determine methods to fill these gaps.
  • Facilitate collaboration between military and civilian agencies to improve coordination.
  • Provide detailed briefings and training to share information with related groups.
  • Collaborate with military and civilian personnel to develop presentation and training materials.
  • Maintain an online repository of state-specific information on family programs and support resources.
  • Provide guidance to the team in adherence to planning, policies, and practices, and mentor junior team members.
