About The Position

Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work. As a Project Manager, you are responsible for managing a project from design to release for customers, monitoring the project from initiation through delivery and program closeout. You will develop, define, and execute project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables; identify needed resources for projects; and interface with internal and external customers or field-based employees on technical matters as needed. Manages simple projects typically defined as: studies, small task orders, Internal Research and Development, Level of Effort; services only, spares or projects with minimal deliverables. Typically, there is no responsibility of managing team members directly, but rather an introduction to people management. This role can, and often is, used as a Control Account Manager on a larger program You will be responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: proposal development, planning, scope, definition, design, execution, delivery, and program closeout. You will track progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators, and prepare reports to stakeholders. The Project Manager will need to be agile and flexible, as changes will be certain and frequent. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Requirements

  • Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in project management and/or in a related or technical field, internships not included in total years of experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a project.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills & capability to meet schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or similar tool.
  • Experience with developing budgets and managing projects to those budgets.
  • Experience managing project scope and scope creep during project execution.
  • Experience in resource planning and management during project execution.
  • Experience with risk management planning and documentation.
  • Familiarity with government contracting and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
