The Military-Connected Vocational Admissions Counselor will be trained to provide assistance to prospective transfer, graduate and military-connected students specifically to accommodate the specialized needs of these populations. They will work to enroll students by liaising between the prospects and appropriate campus departments via our office staff on the Ashland, OH main campus. This position will also establish relationships with the local military and veteran organizations (Amvets, American Legion, VFW , etc.) and strengthen their affinity with Ashland University by providing resources and materials as well as helping capture advertising and sponsorship opportunities. In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the job description, the Military-Connected Vocational Admissions Counselor will focus on recruiting military-connected students particularly inclined to non-traditional pathways to degree-seeking programs by deploying vocational rehabilitation and rapid retraining strategies with a specific focus on micro-credentialing, licenses, and certificates. This position will help the department achieve its goal to capitalize on opportunities to synthesize recruitment capacities with the AU Career Center for Life Calling ( CCLC ) and corporate partnership programs by providing career coaching, advising, and planning as part of the enrollment process, thereby maximizing our reach and matriculating students who may have not otherwise enrolled due to the specific obstacles and scenarios intrinsic in their military-connected status. In short, they will provide targeted guidance to students who would otherwise drop out of the enrollment process, or not consider Ashland University as a viable option for career advancement or further education. Communicates with prospective students, parents, and the community through appointments, phone calls, emails, and other materials Coordinates with the appropriate campus leadership to welcome prospective students to campus Processes paperwork, interviews applicants, arranges and conducts campus tours Conducts follow-up activities to prospective and new students such as emails, text, and phone-calling campaigns Maintains recruiting operations at military installations, community colleges, and high schools with a particular focus on transfer, online and adult students. Advises students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission and other requirements, policies and procedures as appropriate Conducts effective phone and virtual presentations Works cooperatively to provide appropriate data for purposes of reporting, institutional research, and institutional effectiveness Assists in the submission of military-benefit applications and provides support to prospective students and their families throughout the application process. Other duties as assigned.
