About The Position

The Military Analyst (Policy) position at the Department of Defense serves as a critical Military Policy Advisor and subject matter expert on NATO's Military Workstreams. The incumbent will be responsible for the application and synchronization of national military strategic planning guidance, ensuring that joint doctrine is effectively reviewed and applied. This role also involves the review, application, and integration of adaptive planning principles and processes into NATO's plans development process, which is essential for maintaining operational readiness and strategic alignment with U.S. military objectives. As the adaptive planning senior subject matter expert in the U.S. Military Delegation to NATO, the analyst will provide expert advice and recommendations regarding strategic planning guidance and support for theater contingency plans. This includes providing guidance and direction in the application of Global Force Management (GFM) and Global Campaign Planning (GCP) to NATO's military planners at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and Headquarters. The role requires ensuring the incorporation of U.S. military force planning models into NATO's advanced deterrence planning, which is vital for effective multinational military operations. The position also entails meeting with senior officials from various government agencies, including the Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, State Department, and Combatant Commanders. The analyst will foster productive relationships, gauge and inform the U.S. position on critical issues, and lobby aggressively to achieve national outcomes. Additionally, the analyst will develop long-range plans, goals, and objectives for assigned portfolio programs and manage the development of policy changes in response to directives from senior U.S. military delegation and Joint Staff leadership.
