About The Position

Fremont Hospital is currently hiring a Per Diem Milieu Therapist to cover for the weekend. The Milieu Therapist assists patients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs, enabling them to achieve optimal emotional health through therapeutic treatment skills. Services include basic consultation, teaching, specialized clinical services for patients/families, crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, and providing information and referrals. The role also involves managing patient treatment activities, including treatment planning, interfacing with the physician-led treatment team, and providing psychotherapeutic groups and activities to patients and their families. The Milieu Therapist offers clinical consultation and support to unit milieu staff for best practice implementation. Fremont Hospital is a fully accredited, 148-bed private inpatient psychiatric hospital providing care for children through adults, offering assessments, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, partial-hospitalization, intensive outpatient psychiatric treatment, and chemical dependency outpatient care. Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health or a related field
  • One year direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting
  • Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities
  • Successfully complete the Fremont Hospital’s non- violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training course within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with preventative intervention measures
  • Current CPR Certification presented to Human Resources upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Registered and in good standing with the BBS or active license Issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, or other applicable license
  • LCSW, MFT, or Licensed Psychologist

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs
  • Enable patients, through therapeutic treatment skills, to achieve their optimal level of emotional health
  • Provide basic consultation, teaching, specialized clinical services for patients/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, and providing information and referrals as needed
  • Manage the treatment activities offered to the patient including: treatment planning; interfacing with the physician led treatment team; and provision of psychotherapeutic groups and activities to patients and their families
  • Provide clinical consultation and support to unit milieu staff to implement best practices in clinical intervention
