About The Position

The Milieu Specialist at River Vista Behavioral Health plays a crucial role in providing therapeutic milieu management and training within a newly established 128-bed facility. This position focuses on ensuring patient safety, managing the therapeutic environment, and training staff in best practices for patient care in a behavioral health setting. The Milieu Specialist collaborates closely with nursing and other staff to implement effective patient management strategies and maintain a high standard of care.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Five years of professional experience in a behavioral/mental health setting required.
• CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic milieu management training and monitoring of hospital units.
• Assist with monitoring new employees during their orientation period.
• Work closely with nursing to ensure safety and effective milieu management.
• Implement patient harm reduction strategies and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) practices.
• Collaborate with staff and nursing leadership to address patient safety issues related to the milieu.
• Ensure program schedules are followed and provide role modeling for managing patients with psychosis/aggression.
• Train employees and implement changes to the milieu as needed.
• Perform assessments and make recommendations related to therapeutic milieu management.
• Assist in providing appropriate activities for patients and training for facility staff.
• Maintain regular communication with nursing leadership regarding therapeutic milieu issues.
