About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Primary function of Milieu Specialist is to ensure patient safety through staff education and staff culture development. The Milieu Specialist assists Nurse Manager and CNO with planning and oversight of the Mental Health Technician (MHT) patient care role and overall goal of facilitating the provision of continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patient. Milieu Specialist is responsible for primary training, preceptorship and mentorship of the MHTs throughout the facility. Patients served include, children (ages 8-12); adolescents (ages 13-17), adults (ages 18-65) and geriatric (ages 65+) if applicable. Milieu Specialist will work with the Director Clinical Services to develop MHT Group programming and implementation for all populations. Milieu Specialist will be responsible for training and accountability of MHT group compliance (Fidelity Program). QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; Associates Degree in a relateable field preferred. Experience:Two (2) years of related security experience required, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness and hospital setting, highly preferred. Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation, Service Excellence Training and CPR certification required upon hire. HWC and CPR Trainer preferred. Ability to work occasional extended/flexible hours as requested.
