Aitech is seeking an experienced Mil-Space Embedded Solution Architect – US to support pre-sales efforts in the aerospace and defense, and Space industries. This customer-facing role bridges technical expertise and business development strategy, and the potential candidate serves as the key technical authority in defining and demonstrating embedded system solutions for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications across sea, land, air and space domains. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of embedded systems, ruggedized solutions, radiation requirements and the unique requirements of the aerospace and defense sectors and space or mil-space. The ideal candidate also holds strong customer intimacy and mission & platform knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in embedded systems design, system architecture, or a similar technical role, with experience in aerospace, defense or Space markets.
  • Strong knowledge of US DoD mil-aero and space platforms and missions
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in pre-sales, customer-facing engineering, or solution architecture.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure system design for aerospace and defense or radiation environments and applications.
  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to take loose mission goals or mission gaps and formulate potential architectural solutions
  • Expertise in embedded systems architecture, including hardware, firmware, and software components.
  • Strong knowledge of ruggedized solutions and high-reliability systems for extreme environments.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards such as SOSA, MOSA, FACE, etc.
  • Proficiency with -standard hardware platforms (e.g., VPX, COM Express, SBCs, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Aerospace & Defense systems, such as Mission Computers, Display Computers, etc.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional global environment.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time across US and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Architecture:
  • Engage with customers to understand their missions, mission gaps, and tactical/strategic goals. Leverage that understanding to create new opportunities by architecting candidate embedded system solutions, including vetting solution with customer to refine approach and maximize scope and win probability for Aitech.
  • Architect embedded system solutions, including hardware and software integration, to meet mission-specific requirements for aerospace and defense applications for programs that are known and/or in acquisition.
  • Support technical proposals, including system architecture diagrams, performance analyses, and compliance matrices.
  • Provide technical leadership during customer meetings, RFP responses, and solution demonstrations, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
  • Customer Engagement & Problem Solving:
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving challenges, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the pre-sales process.
  • Collaborate with customers to build customer intimacy, mission understanding, and trust. Provide innovative Aitech-focused solutions to customers while addressing operational challenges in rugged environments.
  • Shape requirements with DoD, industry primes, Tiers 1 and 2 companies to influence solution requirements to the benefit of Aitech.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams:
  • Work closely with product management, engineering, and Business Development teams to align solutions with product capabilities and development roadmaps.
  • Influence IRAD plans with leadership team for future building block boards, system and software solutions to expand presence in US sea, land, air, and space markets.
  • Provide feedback to product teams based on customer gaps and requirements, and industry trends to influence future product development.
  • Work with FAEs to support pre and post-sales customer engagement
  • Leverage knowledge of competitors to positively influence Aitech offerings
  • Mil-Space Embedded Solution Leadership
  • Lead technical demonstrations of embedded solutions, showcasing system capabilities and differentiators.
  • Provide technical training to sales teams and customers, ensuring a deep understanding of product features and benefits.
  • Present at industry events promoting technical strengths and capabilities of Aitech.
  • Lead the US side of transfer of knowledge from IL team to US cross functional team
  • Understanding of AI/ML capabilities and use cases, including technical experience with GPGPU and Neuromorphic processors and other leading AI/ML technologies.
  • Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like VxWorks, FreeRTOS, QNX, RT Linux, Integrity
  • Compliance & Standards Expertise:
  • Ensure all proposed solutions meet relevant aerospace and defense standards, such as, VPX, SOSA, MOSA, FACE, etc.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as CAN, ARINC 429, UART, TSN and Ethernet-based standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and certifications to guide solution compliance, including but not limited to DO-178, DO-254, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and ARINC 653.
  • Aitech representative at industry standards organization to capture information and promote Aitech at standards conferences.
