About The Position

Mercy Flights is hiring for a community Paramedic (MIH) Position Summary The Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Paramedic works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide proactive, post-hospital, and community-based care in non-traditional settings. This role focuses on continuity of care through in-home visits, patient assessments, clinical and social screenings, patient education, and coordination with healthcare and community partners. The MIH Paramedic functions independently while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, behavioral health providers, and community agencies to improve patient outcomes and reduce unnecessary emergency department utilization.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Paramedicine or equivalent education required for Oregon Paramedic licensure
• Minimum of two (2) years as a Paramedic on a 911 transporting ambulance or equivalent community health experience
• Valid Oregon Paramedic License and National Registry Paramedic certification
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEPP certifications required
• Community Health Worker (CHW) certification required within 12 months of hire

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in health, human services, or related field preferred
• Behavioral or mental health experience preferred
• Community Paramedic (CP-C) certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards of care
• Conduct in-home assessments, proactive and post-discharge follow-up visits, and specialty MIH visits
• Respond as part of the Mobile Crisis Response team for behavioral health and crisis-related calls
• Perform clinical interventions including point-of-care testing, EKG interpretation, wound care, medication reviews, and home safety assessments
• Deliver patient and family education related to chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, CHF, COPD, hypertension, fall risk)
• Coordinate care with physicians, hospitals, allied health providers, and community resources
• Provide both Basic and Advanced Life Support within scope of practice
• Serve as ALS backup on emergent and non-emergent 911 ambulance calls as needed
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic documentation and patient care reports in compliance with Oregon law
• Utilize telehealth and technology platforms for physician consultation and longitudinal patient monitoring
